San Antonio has one of the largest veteran populations in the United States — and yet many eligible veterans are not accessing the home health benefits they have earned. As an authorized VA Community Care Network provider, Associates Home Health works directly with veterans to navigate the VA system.
What Is VA Community Care?
The VA Community Care program allows eligible veterans to receive care from community providers when VA facilities cannot provide care in a timely manner or the care is not available at the VA. Home health is one of the most commonly authorized services.
Who Is Eligible?
- The VA determines home health services are medically necessary
- The veteran lives more than 40 miles from the nearest VA facility
- The VA cannot provide the service within 20 days
- The veteran has a service-connected condition requiring home-based management
What Services Are Covered?
- Skilled nursing visits and clinical monitoring
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Homemaker aide services (housekeeping, meals, errands)
- Personal care assistance
- Medication management and wound care
- Respite care for family caregivers
How to Get Started
